Traineeships / Apprenticeships

What is a Traineeship / Apprenticeship?

A traineeship / apprenticeship is an arrangement entered into between a student, employer and SRTO in which the student is employed as an apprentice or trainee. All parties are required to enter into a training contract prior to a traineeship/apprenticeship commencing.  Under this arrangement the employer is responsible for providing work experience, supervision and on-the job training while the SRTO is responsible for developing the training plan and providing training opportunities.

Under Career Boost, students can complete 1 general pathway qualification or 1 traineeship / apprenticeship.

Career Boost funding for a traineeship or apprenticeship is only available if the student has not completed 2 traineeships/apprenticeships under the School based Apprenticeships and Traineeships (SATs) and/or Career Start.
