Career Start program

What is the Career Start program?

The Career Start program is a Queensland Government initiative which supports Queensland job seekers to start their career, or move into more skilled roles or full-time employment.

Students can enroll into up to 2 Certificate 3 Level qualifications under this program.

  • 1 general training pathway (non-traineeship/apprenticeship) qualification and 1 traineeship or apprenticeship; or
  • 2 traineeships or apprenticeships.

If a student completes a traineeship/apprenticeship before a general pathways certificate they will no longer be eligible to enroll into a the general training pathway certificate.

What courses are available under the Career Start program?

HANMAC offers the following qualifications under Career Start:

  • CHC32015 Certificate III in Community Services.
  • CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support.
Am I eligible for Career Start?

To be eligible, participants must:

  • Be over the age of 15 and no longer at school;
  • Permanently reside in Queensland;
  • Be an Australian citizen, New Zealand citizen, Australian permanent resident, or a temporary resident on an eligible visa subclass holding correct work permits and on a pathway to permanent residency;
  • Not hold a Certificate III or Higher Level qualification completed in the last 10 years (qualifications completed at school and foundation skills qualifications do not count towards eligibility);
  • Not be enrolled in another qualification, even if it is on hold or deferred, whether funded or not (foundation skills qualifications do not count towards eligibility).
How is training delivered?

Do I have to pay fees under the Career Start program?

Students are required to pay a student contribution fee under the Career Start program. Information on fees and charges can be found on the relevant qualification’s page of this website.
