This qualification reflects the role of community services workers who support clients through the provision of person-centred services. Work may include day-to-day support of individuals in community settings and supporting the implementation of specific community-based programs.

Qualification information
To successfully complete this qualification students must complete 12 units of competency:
Core units
- CHCCCS016 Respond to client needs
- CHCCOM005 Communicate and work in health or community services
- CHCDIV001 Work with diverse people
- HLTWHS002 Follow safe work practices for direct client care
- HLTWHS006 Manage personal stressors in the work environment
Elective units
- CHCADV001 Facilitate the interest and rights of clients
- CHCCCS009 Facilitate responsible behavior
- CHCCCS015 Provide individual support
- CHCCDE003 Work within a community development framework
- CHCDIS007 Facilitate the empowerment of people with a disability
- CHCDIV002 Promote Aboriginal and/or Torres Straight Islander cultural safety
- CHCPRP001 Develop and maintain networks and collaborative partnerships
Course requirements and recommendations
Requirements:
Students must hold or be able to apply for:
- National police check (must cover working with vulnerable people).
Students must be able to:
- comprehend, and communicate in English.
- complete assessments in English.
Highly recommended
It is highly recommended that students have or get the following:
- Current influenza vaccination
- COVID-19 vaccination
